Study Centre Brighton & Hove has a distinctive dual focus programme that distinguishes it from other language colleges. The immersion in Spanish programme is innovative in its content as well as in its presentation. Time spent outside the classroom is considered an integral part of learning a language and students continue practising their Spanish after leaving the classroom.
You are highly encouraged to capitalise on your study experience by socialising with other Spanish speakers and taking advantage of opportunities to meet people and participating in our extra-curricular, language focused activities. In short, to live the learning experience to the fullest.
We aim to make learning Spanish as fun and informative as possible by organising and offering these extra-curricular activities during the course of the academic year. They may include culture visits to the theatre and watching films in the Spanish language, flamenco shows, food and wine tasting from Spain and plenty of other enjoyments.

Dual Focus
The dual focus approach boosts students’ language skills, achieved in both classroom activities and in after-class learning events, with guided practice sessions integrated into the curriculum.
Speaking and listening, with advice on pronunciation, is the main focus of our Spanish courses. Some grammar and written work is included if appropriate. Study Centre Brighton and Hove aims to develop your ability to communicate in everyday situations, but at the same time to get to know various aspects of the fascinating Hispanic culture.

Intensive Course
5 days
A short, conversational beginners’ course to get by when you are on holiday. This is a fun, basic course that gives you a taste of the language with the possibility to continue to a higher level.
Advanced (Conversational Spanish)
30 weeks
This course looks at issues in contemporary society in Spanish speaking countries, and uses authentic sources to increase students ability to communicate ideas and opinions.
Year 1 (Beginners)
20/30 weeks
This course is for those that are aiming to develop the ability to communicate in everyday situations, but at the same time to know some aspects of the fascinating Hispanic culture.
Year 2 (Lower Intermediate)
30 weeks
Learners progress beyond basic everyday communication. You will learn to speak with more accuracy about past and future events, and to choose your vocabulary to fit the situation.
Year 3 (Intermediate)
30 weeks
This course is mostly taught in Spanish with some grammar explanation in English. It aims to improve and consolidate the four skills; listening, speaking, writing and reading.
